Suburban FC Summer Season

September 13th, 2010

Suburban FC would like to extend congratulations to all of their Tier I teams from this inaugural season. Of the 7 teams that Suburban FC fielded 6 of them qualified for their respective league/provincial championship. This is the highest percentage of teams attending league/provincial championships or all the clubs in NS.

The U-14 Development programs, in their first year of existence, proved to be a great success for the club. Not only did it allow our region to provide more players with an opportunity to play soccer at the top level in NS and develop, the players also competed well and got quality results on the pitch. The U-14 Development Boys team placed 3rd in their league championship while the U-14 Development girls team placed 2nd.

The U-14 Tier I programs both proved to have good seasons with the boys winning the league and qualifying first for provincials and the girls finishing 3rd in the league. This past weekend the girls did not get the bounces they needed and after two hard fought games came out of provincials with a 4th place finish. The boys competed hard, representing their new club with pride, and came out of the weekend as provincial champions! The first Suburban FC team to win a provincial title and head to club nationals.

The U-16 Girls team had a great season as well, finishing second in the league and playing some great football along the way. The girls won their first game of the weekend with some great attacking football but unfortunately did not get the bounces in the final on Sunday which went into extra time. A hard fought loss for the girls but still a season they should be proud of.

The U-18 Boys team finished the season second in the league as well. After a difficult first game the boys bounced back and claimed the bronze against the host team who had also been upset in their first game of the weekend. The success of the 18 boys program is great to see as these players will, in the near future, be looking to compliment the strong group of Senior Men Suburban FC currently has.

The development of these teams over the course of the season is a credit to all of the hard work put in by the coaches, players, and parents of Suburban FC and we look forward to fielding many more successful teams in the coming seasons.
