SFC Appoints Head of Physical Performance
SFC is excited to welcome Gary Ohanessian as our new Head of Physical Performance.
Gary completed his BA in Physical Education and Sports in Lebanon before moving to Canada to pursue a MSc in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University.
His journey in football began at just four years old, and during the pandemic he made the decision to turn that lifelong passion into a career in performance training. Since then, Gary has worked full-time as a Strength & Conditioning Coach in Lebanon while also taking on part-time roles as a Personal Trainer. Gary has built an impressive résumé in Canadian sport as well. He currently serves as an Assistant Strength Coach with the 2025 AUS Champion Dalhousie Tigers Men’s Soccer team, and previously interned as a Physical Performance Coach with the Halifax Wanderers during the 2025 CPL season.
Most recently, Gary joined the Halifax Tides as their Strength & Conditioning Coach for the final three weeks of the 2025 Northern Super League (NSL) season.
SFC Executive Director, Ollie Hewish, shared: “We’re thrilled to have Gary at Suburban. He brings strong experience, a real football background, and the passion and drive to raise standards, making him a perfect fit here. We’re looking forward to the impact he’ll have across our programs.”
SFC’s new Head of Performance commented: “I am very excited for this opportunity with Suburban FC, as it aligns perfectly with my passion for athlete development, building strong training cultures, and contributing to one of the most respected and ambitious soccer programs in the region.”
